sneeze in glasgow

Europe/UK Tour September, 2002

Iīve just returned from my holidays. Iīve spent 2 weeks in Scotland and I saw the Sneeze, Godstar concert in Glasgow and have to say "Hut ab" (donīt know if itīs in English the same: hat off) to Nic, Tom and Simon. Because they had to play in front of a tiny "crowd", about 20 people. If I had played I had stopped 30 minutes later, totally disappointed, but they made a great show, played 2 hours great music and I really thought:"man, they are so cool!". They were very professional. There was even one good thing about the tiny crowd, because I could film and make photos without problems.

How could that happen?
On the one hand I found out that the people in Scotland have absolute no plan from music, theyīre just listening to that maintream shit. For them Oasis or Robbie Williams are punk, independent and ...but the Scots even listen to worse music. I attented to a concert one night in a pub, I saw the worst musician ever (playing lousy Mr. Big songs), people applauded like Elvis is playing. On the other hand the organizers (can we call them organizers? were there organizers?) did nothing. I was already one week in Glasgow, visited universities and clubs but I hadnīt seen any posters or ads about "Sneeze". Even the so-called "gig-guide" from Glasgow was only filled with (really) strange artists. Had people known about these great muscians I guess the "barflys" would have been filled.

You can see it really nerves me when I see a great band coming all the way from Australia to play their great music and no ass is coming.

I hope Nic, Simon and Tom will have more visitors in the other concerts in Europe, because I want to see them again in Europe! Next time maybe in my hometown. I promise I bring at least 100 people.

P.S. Beside the good performance from the band there was another thing what made me laugh, because my girlfriend thought that Tom Morgan is currently looking like George Clooney.

hi Christian, thanks for your review on the show. You should have come up and introduced yourself to me.

yep the promoter of the show did a terrible job, we found out he also put on the supersuckers show the same night, so did no promo for us...and had actually made us change our glasgow show from the saturday night to the sunday night!

we were disappointed in the turnout, as i thought the glasgow show was going to be one of the best attended and ended up being the smallest of the whole tour (followed by Brighton!). But we still put on a good show!

Nic
